Oh my goodness I am so late in doing this. Not only this wrap-up, but my book haul for April as well!! But better late than never and I wanted to quickly squeeze this in before we take a look at my wrap-up for May, because I read some read books in April! So let’s dive right into it.
In April I read a total of five books which is just about my average. I so wish I was reading about ten books a month so that I was getting through more books because I SO want to read them. But life is busy and it’s hard to fit in that much reading time. So let’s see what I read.
A Curse so Dark and Lonely
by Brigid Kemmerer
Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy, Retelling (Beauty and the Beast)
Author: Brigid Kemmerer
Published: January 2019
Publisher: Bloomsbury
Pages: 477 {paperback}
Will I continue the series? YES
Eeeep I’m so excited to continue this series! This retelling of Beauty and the Beast absolutely blew me away. I cannot wait for the sequel to find out what happens next because this book finishes on such a teasing cliff hanger. The characters in here are wonderful and the setting is fantastic!
** I was sent a copy of this for review from Bloomsbury, thank you!**
**This book made my all-time favourites list**
Four Dead Queens
by Astrid Sholte
Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy
Author: Astrid Sholte
Published: March 2019
Publisher: Allen & Unwin
Pages: 432 {paperback}
This is a standalone fantasy novel that was so addictive to read. I would recommend it based on that alone: it’s a wonderful reading experience and I could not put the damn thing down. This is basically an epic murder mystery but my only complaint was that the ending felt unsatisfying and I was a bit underwhelmed come the final pages.

Golden Son
by Pierce Brown
Genre: Young Adult, Sci-Fi
Author: Pierce Brown
Published: September 2015
Publisher: Hodder & Stoughton
Pages: 442 {paperback}
Will I continue the series? YES
This is the second book in the Red Rising trilogy and it somehow managed to excel in the first. I’ve been really enjoying the epic expanse of this sci-fi space opera and all the amazing characters within. I could not believe the wicked and cruel cliff hanger this one ended on!
Women to the Front
by Heather Sheard and Ruth Lee
Genre: Historical Non-Fiction
Author: Heather Sheard & Ruth Lee
Published: April 2019
Publisher: Penguin
Pages: 320 {paperback}
This was an amazing piece of non-fiction that I read in April. I will very shortly be posting an interview that I did with Heather so stay tuned for that! I was blown away by the research and new areas that were explored in this book regarding all the qualified, female doctors who came to the allies aid during WWI.

The Everlasting Rose
by Dhonielle Clayton
Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy
Author: Dhonielle Clayton
Published: March 2019
Publisher: Freeform
Pages: 344 {hardback}
This was the second and final book in The Belles series and I really enjoyed it! I did think that the first book was the better of the two but this tied everything off nicely and had some great adventures along the way. I’m still very much so in love with the concept of this world and can’t wait to read more of Clayton’s work!

I haven’t done this statistic before but I thought it might be fun to look at? Especially because it was a cool way to see that in April I read primarily new releases from this year, which is awesome!
