Characters as Pets | Top Ten Tuesday

That is a slightly misleading title, I’ll admit. It’s not so much having the character as a pet, but characters I’d name my pet after. I think it would be particularly funny to have a little flock of ducks and name them after mighty characters.

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly event hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl and this week’s prompt is:

Characters I’d Name A Pet After

I’ve decided to just pick five characters because, as you will see, I also decided to create these ducks and it took a little while. I think this needs no more explanation so let’s get quacking.

1. Mac Dubh
from Outlander

Pets

Mac Dubh duck is the spitting image of Jamie Fraser, no? This would be a particularly hilarious name to give a wee duck. This is a nickname Jamie Fraser picks up in about book three or four of Outlander (honestly I can’t remember, so much happens in that series).

2. Sir Attenborough
from A Life on Our Planet

Pets (1)

Sir Attenborough would be the fanciest of all the ducks. A great explorer who’s always stomping about looking for adventure.

3. Tug
from Ranger’s Apprentice

Pets (2)

Tug is named after Will’s trusty horse in Ranger’s Apprentice. I think it’s an adorable name for a stealthy but loyal duck.

4. Poirot
from any Agatha Christie

Pets (3)

How could I resist?! Isn’t little Poirot adorable. I’m feeling really inspired to get myself a little farm of ducks and actually name them this.

5. Eragon
from Eragon

Pets (4)

A fire-breathing duck anyone!? Sign me up! That sounds like delightful mayhem. I think after all the more or less serious names we’ve had, we’d need an over-energetic and fiery duck to spice things up.

That’s a wrap!

Who’s your favourite duck?!

Happy reading!
