December is an incredibly dry month this year for releases. I have scoured the internet, thinking I must just be missing something. But as far as I can see, there are only a handful of new releases (and there aren’t that many sequels either, though I will mostly be talking about firsts or standalones).

So let this be a short and sweet post and let’s look at what is coming out!

FANTASY

Children of Virtue and Vengeance | Tomi Adeyemi

RELEASE DATE: 3 December
I would certainly say I’m not the only one anticipating this book. This is the greatly anticipated sequel to Children of Blood and Bone which came out early 2018. It feels like it’s been forever and we left on such a cliff-hanger! I can’t wait to get my hands on this one.

The Weight of a Soul | Elizabeth Tammi

RELEASE DATE: 3 December
This one sounds super interesting and is mixed with some mythology-inspired elements. In this story, the main character’s sister is found dead and the MC is struck by grief. Her sister should not have died and she wants to know the truth about what happens so she strikes a deal with the Norse goddess of death, Hela. This leads her to discovering a plan to spur Ragnarok and it’s all downhill-chaos from there.

Reverie | Ryan La Sala

RELEASE DATE: 3 December
This is slated as Magicians meets Inception which is a crazy combo if ever there was one. In this book, the MC is found half-dead in a river: he can’t really remember what happens but from that moment onward, reality shifts for him. There are unimaginable worlds that come out of nowhere, strangers who claim to be his friends and a sinister force threatening to alter reality for good. I think this sounds rather good.

HISTORICAL FICTION

Dangerous Alliance | Jennieke Cohen

RELEASE DATE: 3 December
Here we have A Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue meets Jane Austen and that, really, is everything we’ve all been waiting for. This sounds like it’s going to be that exact mix, with an MC secure in her family’s estate after her older sister weds, only to have the tables turned and be thrown into society with the pressure of needing to marry or else her family become destitute.

CONTEMPORARY

Regretting You | Colleen Hoover

RELEASE DATE: 10 December
And a new Colleen Hoover book! Which I’m sure many of you are excited for. Hoover never seems to disappoint and always writes such powerful and inspiring books. This one sounds like it will be no exception. I don’t think I could ever turn down a Hoover book, not a single one of them has ever let me down!
