Booktube-a-thon WRAP UP

The time of a read-a-thons is here, my friends. Is it just me or does it always seem like there are so many more read-a-thons happening at this time of year? It’s glorious. ANYHOO. I’m here today to tell you how I managed to read 23 books in one week.

HAH. That was a funny joke. I read, like, three books. I wish it were 23. Sigh. One day, my good fellows, that amazing feat will be achieved. Booktube-a-thon was SO. MUCH. FUN. I’ve never participated before but seeing as I started up a YouTube channel this year I thought, well by jove, I must join in. So I did.

I vlogged each day so you can see how that went too, if you like, but I’m going to give you a brief wrapped wrap up here so you can marvel at my ability to read incredibly slow.

What books did I read?

The Philosopher Kings by Jo Walton
4.5/5 stars

I buddy read this one with Casey from AdoptABookAus and we were utterly blown away by it. It was a fabulous sequel to to The Just City and you can read my full review for it here.

The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli
5/5 stars

I think words are not enough to describe how much I enjoyed this book. This is a fabulous LGBT+ book whose main character isn’t even LGBT. Go figure. Albertalli has produced another amazing book.

Saga Vol. 1
4/5 stars

This is the first graphic novel I read and I really enjoyed it! I was pleasantly surprised by how much I did and I really can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of the sequel. You can see my full review for it here.

Kitty Hawk and the Curse of the Yukon Gold by Iain Reading
incomplete

This is the book that I only got half way through, I had to abandon it in favour of completing the challenge to finish a book in one day. From what I’ve read so far I am enjoying it although it’s got some convincing to do before it earns a decent number of stars.

Statistics

And there we have it! Not the worst effort in the world, The Philosopher Kings definitely slowed me down a little being a heavier read but I’m really pleased with what I got read nonetheless. Gotta love read-a-thons!
