Alphabethon Round Six! || TBR + Announcement

GUYS. It’s here, it’s coming: round six of my favourite read-a-thon is just around the river bend. I’m ever so slightly late sorting out my TBR (to be read) pile here but we’ve still got a little bit of time to shuffle our schedules into place in preparation! This round we will be reading books starting with:

F

Who’s excited?! ME! ME! ME! I’m so keen, you all know how much I adore this read-a-thon. I am absolutely thrilled to be on the fantastic team once more for this round to run sprints and provide some motivation! Right now, I am still your only host in the Australian time-zone area of the world – so if you live in Aus, NZ, Singapore – etc- any place that roughly sits around AWST time then HULLO, I’m your gal.

But some introductions are in place for those of you new to this gig. The Alphabethon Read-a-thon is a week-long read-a-thon themed around the alphabet. Michelle is our host and you can check out her announcement page HERE. There is a prize going in the form of a $25 USD Amazon gift voucher for participants so please do head over and read about how to enter that.

Being round six, we are up to letter “F” in the alphabet. This means:

  • Read books starting with F.
  • Read books whose author’s last name starts with F.
  • Read books whose author’s first name starts with F.

In that order of priority, if we’re being picky. “F” is somewhat tricky on most of our TBRs to actually find books to meet the criteria so don’t stress too much. There are reading challenges which I will be discussing below, too – a bit of extra fun.

The official Twitter accounts is @Alphabethon so make sure you follow to stay in the loop. All of the hosts will be taking turns to run Twitter sprints (where we all come together to read for set periods of time to cheer each other on and read more) and any other news and updates will be shared there too.

For old timers of this exciting read-a-thon, there is going to be a special month-long edition of the gig happening in July – Michelle’s announcement post for that is HERE and I’d love to see you all join in so please go check it out! But more on that at a later date. Now, onto the reading challenges.

Reading Challenges

We have some of our traditional sort of challenges, as per the usual, and some specific to the letter we’re on. In the next section, where I discuss my TBR, I’ll tell you which book I’m reading for each.

  1. Read a book over Four hundred pages

  2. Read a Fantasy book

  3. Read a book that has a main character whose name starts with F.

  4. Read a book that has an F setting. (town, state, country, world, etc. begins with F)

  5. Read Four books

  6. Read a book recommended by a Friend

  7. Read a book that has an object that starts with F on the cover ( flowers, fairy, food, etc.)

My TBR!

I struggled to find “F” books, not going to lie. I’ve also been swamped with work and LIFE so I’ve been reading a little less than usual. In anticipation of this pattern potentially continuing I’m making myself a manageable TBR of three books.

Frostfire || Amanda Hocking

The start of a new series I’ve been meaning to get to for ages. I’ve been putting it off because I haven’t finished the Watersong Quartet yet – but oh my am I excited to throw a Hocking book on this read-a-thon’s TBR! It should fly by!

Challenges: Read a Fantasy book

Flame in the Mist || Renée Ahdieh

I’m beyond excited to dive into this one. If it’s anywhere near as good as the Wrath and the Dawn series then this will be an excellent pick for a read-a-thon. I’m anticipating that it’ll be a quick, action-packed book that I adore – fingers crossed!

Challenges: Read a book that has an object that starts with “F” on the cover (flower)

Front Lines || Michael Grant

I bought this ages ago and seriously thought I’d pick it up sooner. I’m hoping this won’t bog me down – being historical fiction – but it’s also alternate historical fiction, women in WWII and all, so I reckon it’ll be a delight!

Challenges: Read a book over 400 pages; Read a book that has a main character whose name starts with “F” (Frangie Marr)

That’s a wrap!

So there’s my announcement and TBR for the next round of the Alphabethon. I so hope you all join in, it’s so much fun! I’d love to see your TBRs as well – please link them down below so I can go check them out!!

Happy Reading

  1. I’ll have to keep an eye on this readathon for the E-round! May is my mood reading month so setting up a TBR for a reading challenge pretty much beats the whole point of my own challenge, haha. 😛 Although I checked and have a lot of F’s on my TBR.. Too bad. 😦
