Alphabethon Read-a-thon || Round 5 Announcement + TBR!

It’s that time again! Guys I’m so excited. The Alphabethon Read-a-thon is by far my favourite read-a-thon that happens. Round five is happening THIS February and OH BOY are my eyeballs ready. Today I bring you and introduction to read-a-thons if you’re a newbie, an explanation as to how this read-a-thon works and the specifics to this round and most excitingly: my TBR.

What’s a read-a-thon? A read-a-thon is an event hosted by a person who doth declare that between X and Y period of time we shall all read more than we usually do. Challenges are declared, TBRs (to-be-read) are made and a butt tonne of reading is done.

The Alphabethon is an alphabet-inspired event and I am a co-host for it – hence this post. Each round focusses on a different letter of the alphabet; that means that round five = E. This means that when you construct your TBR for the week that this is running for the books’ titles must start with “E” or the author’s name (first or last).

Host: Michelle @banterbooks
Dates: 12th –  18th February
Challenges: Yes
Original Announcement Page: HERE
Will I Be Vlogging: Yes!

The Challenges

Personally, this round I’m not aiming to tick off challenges. I haven’t even looked into whether my TBR meets any of these. So if they do, great! If not, I’m not stressing.

1) Read a book over 400 pages

2) Read a book under 200 pages

3) Since Alphabethon will take place the week of Valentine’s Day read a romance novel.

4) Read a book with two E’s ( either author’s first and last name begin with E, title and author’s last or first name…you get it.)

Feeling Lucky? Find a book with three E’s, take a photo and post it on either Instagram or Twitter and earn a second entry for the $25 amazon gift card giveaway.

5) Read a book with a MC whose name begins with E.

6) Read a book with an E setting. (world, city, state, country,etc.)

7) Read 7 books.

My TBR

Code Name Verity

page count: 339 {paperback}

Nothing like a bit of good ol’ historical fic. to set you on the right foot. This one is a story I’ve been meaning to dive into for YEARS. I know that I’m going to love it and I know that it’s right up my alley, yet here we are, it having taken me this long to finally get around to read the short little treasure!

Ready Player One
by Ernest Cline

page count: 374 {paperback}

I’M SO EXCITED AND THE MOVIE IS OUT SOON SO LIKE OMG. I just can’t wait to have finally read this one and figured out what all the hype is about. I’m so excited, you have nooo idea.

Everland

A retelling of Peter Pan that I’ve been absolutely dying to get reading since forever ago. I think I’m really going to enjoy it – especially because it’s a Peter Pan retelling and I feel like those are the most versatile Disney/classic retelling to do because of how few drastic alterations you actually have to make!

Frostblood
by Elly Blake

page count: 385 {kindle}

This is also the February/March book club pick of the month for my book club the Squabbling Dragons. I’m so excited to read it!

Dragon Champion

50% finished

I actually started reading this one for the previous round of the Alphabethon and just never got around to finishing it. I’m undecided whether I’m going to make a real effort with this one, but the fact that the author is an E makes me want to start the week off by polishing this one off.

  1. I also want to read Ready Player One before the movie comes out! It will probably make my March TBR. The only thing I am worried about is the fact that I was born in the late 80s, so technically I am a 90s kid… I am a little worried the 80s references may go over my head…

    Happy reading Kirstie!
