Lit-Cube Unboxing || August 2016 Special

Today I’m bringing  you a terribly exciting subscription box. Lit-Cube is an American, bookish subscription company and if this box is anything to go by, they’re seriously amazing. I wish I could order from them again and again, but alas, international shipping is nasty. In August, Lit-Cube offered a specially curated once-off box which was put together by the one and only A. G. Howard. If you don’t know who she is, she’s a magnificent author who wrote the Splintered trilogy which is full of everything amazing (and a retelling of Alice in Wonderland). She’s one of my favourite authors so I certainly didn’t turn down this offer.

Why? Because her latest book, The Architect of Song, was included within this box. When I ordered this, it was a little tricky to buy the physical copy of this book within Australia so I thought this was a great opportunity to grab a copy (it’s now available via The Book Depository). I was over the moon with how amazing this turned out and The Architect of Song is way thicker than I was expecting which I found terribly exciting! I can’t wait to dive into it.

Lit-Cube is a monthly, self-renewing, bookish subscription company. It’s based in America and ships internationally. The box is $34.95 (USD) per month, excluding shipping. They provide a card that details what each item is and also provides the value of each item – so you can see you’re getting your money’s worth! They also have a couple of other boxes you can get so be sure to check out their website!

 Overview

As I said, this box blew my socks off. I loved all of the items in it and was thrilled to receive something curated by Howard, herself. It was all so terribly exciting and worth the wait (shipping took a bit longer getting to Australia, nearly a whole month!). If there’s ever another special box that comes up with this company, I won’t hesitate to grab it.

The Book

The Architect of Song
by A. G. Howard

Genre: New Adult, Paranormal Fantasy, Historical Fiction
Author: A. G. Howard
Published: August 2016
Publisher: Golden Orb Press
Pages: 425 {paperback}

This was, of course, the whole reason that I bought this box. The book itself is stunning and I really, really can’t wait to get into it. I think I will gladly divert from my TBR to read this one because one can never have too much Howard in their life. I hope I love this as much as I loved the Splintered series, and, excitingly, this is going to be a series, too! Joyful times! Not to mention a signed book plate was included in this box so I technically have a signed copy (you should’ve seen the fangirling that went on).

 Delicious Soap

This was tucked into the box and was one of the cheaper aspects only valued at around USD $2.00, but it smells lovely. One of my favourite things in the world is when a book has been wrapped with soaps and the books itself then smells like the soap. So yes, I have a delicious smelling book now.

Hot Chocolate!

I was super surprised by this item and I thought it was wicked. We received a sachet of hot chocolate powder (valued at USD $1.00) as a “snack” element of the box. I think this is a cute little touch and don’t even get me started on how much I love hot chocolate.

Ink Pen & Ink

If you know me, you’ll know how excited I am ove this. This and the following few items were valued roughly around USD $15 each. A little while ago I did a post on How I Review and in it you can see that I often hand write my reviews first with an ink pen (it’s pretty spectacular with its feather). So when I opened the box and saw a small feathered ink pen with ink I positively did a jig of happiness.

Necklace with Flowers

Now this is beautiful. This is a heart shaped necklace made of glass and in its centre are some small pressed flowers. And I love it. It’s exactly the sort of thing I expected to be in this box and I can’t wait to wear it, it’s beautiful!

A Journal

This is possibly, aside from the book, my favourite component of the box. It’s a lovely pliable leather with a quote on the cover that reads, “Keep a green tree in your heart, and perhaps a singing bird will come”, which is a quote selected by Howard, herself. I love to write a journal whist I travel so this is absolutely coming to America with me and I shall use it with pride.

And that’s a wrap!

What did you think of this box? Did you get it also? Have you read this book? I loved this and am so glad that I went for it and ordered a box. I cannot wait to use all these items!
