Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine. It’s a tremendously fun thing to be because you have an excuse to gallivant through the 2016 releases (and probably buy far too many books). It’s also fantastic fun to head over to the official page and check out the link up to what everyone else is waiting on!
This week I’m waiting on . . .
The Piper’s Price
by Audrey Greathouse
book number 2 in the Neverland Wars series
Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy, Retellings [Peter Pan]
Author: Audrey Greathouse
Publisher: Clean Teen Publishing
Pages: 321 {e-book}
RELEASE DATE: 21st February 2017
// PRE-ORDER //
**blurb contains mild spoilers for book 1**
Peter is plotting his retaliation against the latest bombing. Neverland needs an army, and Peter Pan is certain children will join him once they know what is at stake. The lost boys and girls are planning an invasion in suburbia to recruit, but in order to deliver their message, they will need the help of an old and dangerous associate—the infamous Pied Piper.
Hunting him down will require a spy in in the real world, and Gwen soon finds herself in charge of locating the Piper and cutting an uncertain deal with him. She isn’t sure if Peter trusts her that much, or if he’s just trying to keep her away from him in Neverland. Are they friends, or just allies? But Peter might not even matter now that she’s nearly home and meeting with Jay again.
The Piper isn’t the only one hiding from the adults’ war on magic though, and when Gwen goes back to reality, she’ll have to confront one of Peter’s oldest friends… and one of his earliest enemies.
I’m ridiculously excited about this one! When I heard the other day that the cover art was released and the internet was partying over the success of The Neverland Wars I practically danced around my room with excitement. I thoroughly enjoyed the first book, The Neverland Wars, and I can’t wait for its sequel! I’ve already got my copy pre-ordered which you can currently do on iBooks but not on Amazon YET – be patient my dears. You can also pre-order directly through Smashwords which is where my links will take you (I can’t link to iBooks unfortunately!).
The series is a retelling of Peter Pan and I love it (possibly more than the original, but don’t tell anyone). Neverland is fighting off reality; the grownups want the magic in Neverland to power technology and all that jazz in the real world – except it has dire consequences for Neverland. Peter is slightly older than usual, all his trips to and fro reality have caught up with him – which means that when Gwen (a teenager) makes her way to Neverland and meets him, well, let’s just say I have high hopes for that one. I feel like Greathouse did the good thing of allowing us to finally swoon over Peter in a non-creepy fashion.
The story is so awesome and the covers – omg don’t even get me excited. They’re the most gorgeous things in existence. Basically, I’m going to die waiting for the release of book two. I’m desperate to know what happens next! If you like your retellings, this series is 110% for you. And just to get you more excited:
This offer ends tomorrow so QUICK – this is a bargain and a half – Amazon

What are you waiting on?
YES I WANT TO READ THE NEVERLAND WARS. It’s on my wishlist to buy.😂 Because I trust you, see? And this fuels my unabashed Peter Pan obsession so that is also handy. I mean, I have 4 unread Peter Pans already, so what’s one more? What’s TEN MORE basically? *trots off to fight a Neverland*

OK…so you’ve convinced me to give Peter Pan another try. Although I doubt I will like his story any better, I couldn’t resist the sale on The Neverland Wars. And I do like Captain Hook. I am really liking the cover of this new one as well. Hope you love it as much as the first!
