Waiting on Wednesday [#55]

Hello! Hello! Hello! I’m late writing this post. I won’t apologise. I’ve been on the beach all morning, then in the pool, then melting in a puddle (it’s a horrid 41 degrees today) and I didn’t have my Wednesday posts scheduled and waiting in the wings because damn, there are a lot of other posts to write at the end of the year. As I speak (write?) I’m drafting up my end of year wrap up. It’s probably going to be long and messy so I will apologise for that in advance.

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill @ Breaking the SpineIt’s a tremendously fun thing to be because you have an excuse to gallivant through the 2016 releases (and probably buy far too many books). It’s also fantastic fun to head over to the official page and check out the link up to what everyone else is waiting on!

This week I’m waiting on . . .

Heartstone
by Elle Katharine White

Genre: Fantasy [Dragons], Retelling [Pride & Prejudice]
Author: Elle Katharine White
Publisher: Harper Voyager
Pages: 352 {paperback}

 A debut historical fantasy that recasts Jane Austen’s beloved Pride & Prejudice in an imaginative world of wyverns, dragons, and the warriors who fight alongside them against the monsters that threaten the kingdom: gryphons, direwolves, lamias, banshees, and lindworms.
They say a Rider in possession of a good blade must be in want of a monster to slay—and Merybourne Manor has plenty of monsters.
Passionate, headstrong Aliza Bentaine knows this all too well; she’s already lost one sister to the invading gryphons. So when Lord Merybourne hires a band of Riders to hunt down the horde, Aliza is relieved her home will soon be safe again.
Her relief is short-lived. With the arrival of the haughty and handsome dragonrider, Alastair Daired, Aliza expects a battle; what she doesn’t expect is a romantic clash of wills, pitting words and wit against the pride of an ancient house. Nor does she anticipate the mystery that follows them from Merybourne Manor, its roots running deep as the foundations of the kingdom itself, where something old and dreadful slumbers . . . something far more sinister than gryphons.
It’s a war Aliza is ill-prepared to wage, on a battlefield she’s never known before: one spanning kingdoms, class lines, and the curious nature of her own heart.
Elle Katharine White infuses elements of Austen’s beloved novel with her own brand of magic, crafting a modern epic fantasy that conjures a familiar yet wondrously unique new world.

RELEASE DATE: 17th January 2017

// PRE-ORDER //

There are dragons in this book. Really, I shouldn’t need to explain anything more than that to you – BUT I MUST. Guys, this is a draconic (wrong adjective but roll with it) retelling of Pride and Prejudice. PRIDE. AND. PREJUDICE. PLUS. DRAGONS. The writing gods have heard my plea. Screw zombies, dragons are where it’s at. That is all. As you were.

No but seriously, read the damn blurb. Everything about this book is yes and I need it now. Merybourne, Aliza Bentaine, DRAGONRIDERS, *melts into a puddle of YES*
