Waiting on Wednesday [#48]

Good day to you. I hope you’re all having a splendiferous week thus far. I’m feeling very pleased with myself in regards to organisation: all my Christmas presents have been sorted and are being secretly squirrelled away until it’s time to wrap them. That is quite possibly a record for me. On the other hand, I’m reading no where near as much as I thought I would now that I have time which is a tragedy.

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill @ Breaking the SpineIt’s a tremendously fun thing to be because you have an excuse to gallivant through the 2016 releases (and probably buy far too many books). It’s also fantastic fun to head over to the official page and check out the link up to what everyone else is waiting on!

(Also I do apologise – I’ve been completely distracted from blogging so there won’t be a Wishlist Wednesday going up later! Sorry!)

This week I’m waiting on . . .

Fate of Flames

by Sarah Raughley

Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy
Author: Sarah Raughley
Publisher: Simon Pulse
Pages: 368 {hardback}

 Four girls with the power to control the elements and save the world from a terrible evil must come together in the first epic novel in a brand-new series.
When Phantoms—massive beasts made from nightmares and darkness—suddenly appeared and began terrorizing the world, four girls, the Effigies, each gained a unique power to control one of the classical elements: earth, air, fire, and water. Since then, four girls across the world have continually fought against the Phantoms, fulfilling their cosmic duty. And when one Effigy dies, another girl gains her power as a replacement.
But now, with technologies in place to protect the world’s major cities from Phantom attacks, the Effigies have stopped defending humanity and, instead, have become international celebrities, with their heroic feats ranked, televised, and talked about in online fandoms.
Until the day that New York City’s protection against the Phantoms fails, a man seems to be able to control them by sheer force of will, and Maia, a high school student, unexpectedly becomes the Fire Effigy.
Now Maia has been thrown into battle with three girls who want nothing to do with one another. But with the first human villain that the girls have ever faced, and an army of Phantoms preparing for attack, there isn’t much time for the Effigies to learn how to work together.
Can the girls take control of their destinies before the world is destroyed forever?

RELEASE DATE: 22nd November 2016

I can’t deny that it was probably the word “phantom” that entirely drew my interest for this book. It does sound quite good though, don’t you think? I am also very much so digging this cover. I love that there is magic in this story, particularly elemental magic. You know what, just everything about this blurb sounds amazing and I want it. Basically, bring it on.
