Come one, come all! It’s time for Waiting on Wednesday which is always a lot of fun. I find it strange coming to this end of the year and suddenly all those books that seemed so far off at the start of the year are ABOUT TO BE RELEASED INTO THE WILD. I can’t deny that I’m planning a bit of a trip to the bookstore to nab some goodies in a few weeks. September needs a medal for hosting a ridiculous number of good books coming out.
Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine. It’s a tremendously fun thing to be because you have an excuse to gallivant through the 2016 releases (and probably buy far too many books). It’s also fantastic fun to head over to the official page and check out the link up to what everyone else is waiting on!
This week I’m waiting on . . .
Snow Summer
by Kit Peel

Massive climate change has caused a winter that will not thaw, and it seems that the forces of nature have turned on humanity itself. But in the sleepy British village of Pateley, one special girl may hold the key to the earth’s survival.
Wyn, an orphan, has always known that she is different. Unable to feel the biting cold of wind and snow of Pateley’s endless winter, she does what she can to blend in. But when mysterious figures start to appear in the village, insisting that she may have the power to restore order to the natural world, Wyn must look deep inside herself to face the secrets of her past that she has kept hidden even from herself.

I definitely want this book. We all need to take about 5 minutes first, though, to just sit here and stare at that cover because ARGH, it is beautiful. I love that this is a sort of critique on our real-life climate change situation – but mostly I just love the fact that the world is chaotically dying and there’s ONE GIRL TO SAVE THEM ALL.
This is quite a short book, being a mere 200 pages, but I feel like it’ll be a whirlwind of fun to tear through, so let’s hope it does deliver. Basically, I am hooked by this blurb and the cover still has me drooling. I feel like if I wish really hard I might even discover that there’s illustrations throughout the book – BECAUSE WOULDN’T THAT BE FANTASTIC?
This is Kit Peel’s debut – how exciting!
What are you waiting on?
This looks and sounds amazing – I shall definitely add this to my wishlist.
Thanks for highlighting.
