Waiting on Wednesday [#35]

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill @ Breaking the SpineIt’s a tremendously fun thing to be because you have an excuse to gallivant through the 2016 releases (and probably buy far too many books). It’s also fantastic fun to head over to the official page and check out the link up to what everyone else is waiting on!

This week I’m waiting on . . .

Beauty knows the Beast’s forest in her bones—and in her blood. Though she grew up with the city’s highest aristocrats, far from her father’s old lodge, she knows that the forest holds secrets and that her father is the only hunter who’s ever come close to discovering them.

So when her father loses his fortune and moves Yeva and her sisters back to the outskirts of town, Yeva is secretly relieved. Out in the wilderness, there’s no pressure to make idle chatter with vapid baronessas…or to submit to marrying a wealthy gentleman. But Yeva’s father’s misfortune may have cost him his mind, and when he goes missing in the woods, Yeva sets her sights on one prey: the creature he’d been obsessively tracking just before his disappearance.

Deaf to her sisters’ protests, Yeva hunts this strange Beast back into his own territory—a cursed valley, a ruined castle, and a world of creatures that Yeva’s only heard about in fairy tales. A world that can bring her ruin or salvation. Who will survive: the Beauty, or the Beast?

Firstly, I absolutely love this cover. But secondly, I’m 100% up for a Beauty and the Beast retelling. This book sounds so kick-ass I cannot wait for its release. I like that it’s set up to be the whole “who will survive” business – I’m not sure if I believe that this will actually be a face-off to the death. I like to think that this will follow the traditional path of the fairytale and have an epically heart-melting romance spun into it. But I’m really not sure.

I’ve not read any of Spooner’s works before (I know, it’s terrible) and I really want to – so I hope that this book lives up to her reputation!

  1. Yesss I do want this one! Although I agree that it’s almost 99% sure to end up in romance instead of death.😂 I’ve read These Broken Stars trilogy so I know Meagan Spooner is an aaamazing writer, so that’s exciting. 😀 I still need to read her Skylark books though. Like what am I doing with my life??? Sheesh. Clearly nothing much.
    (Plus fairy tale retellings FTW.)
