Slay That Series Read-a-Thon!

Who’s surprised that I’m doing another read-a-thon? No-one! I love these things!! I find them a great way to encourage myself to get through some books just that smidgen faster which means I have more time to read even more books! There’s just something awesome about reading along for the duration of a week (or so) with others and having a whale of a time on Twitter.

Slay That Series Readathon

Slay That Series is a read-a-thon hosted by Sara @ sarawithoutanH and Chami @ ReadLikeWildFire. It’s running over 8 days because we all know we need that extra day and should hopefully be a lot of fun! The aim of the read-a-thon is to complete a series that we’ve been meaning to for a while, or to just generally polish some off. Which is a GREAT idea for me because I should own a trophy for the most series left not finished. I hardly ever read series all in one go and who knows why, but I’d like to. So I actually have one whole series sitting in the wings that I want to read and that is what I’m going to try and finish during this week of slaying. The dates are as follows:

13th March – 20th March

So, as Sara explains, we gets the entirety of BOTH Sundays which means EIGHT days and more chance of me actually hitting my goal. Hooray! SO. What am I reading?

The Halo Trilogy by Alexandra Adornetto

Halo Series

Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy (paranormal – angels)
Author: Alexandra Adornetto
Number of Books in Series: 3
Total Number of Pages: 1,403

So this is a series that I’ve been reading to read for a while. In fact, I actually discussed my lacking of reading them in a Top Ten Tuesday a week ago (which you can see here). I bought all of these for a wicked price roughly a year ago and was determined to read them all straight away. I didn’t. So here I am! I was originally planning on reading my beautiful boxed set of The Wolves of Mercy Falls – but it turns out that there are four books in that series and not just the three that I have, *hufff*. No wolves for Kirstie.

I’m pretty excited to check this series out though – I’m 70% confident that I’ll be able to read all of these throughout the week but who knows. I am back at uni so I might be too busy and only get through one, *gasp*, but let’s all hope I make it the whole way through. This will be such a wonderfully satisfying read-a-thon if I slay and entire series – there’s just something so great about finishing a series off, am I right?

 What the Series is About

From what my limited knowledge of this series tells me, this series is about an angel who is sent to earth and accidentally falls in love. So the whole shebang will be about a tormented (probably) love triangle filled with tormented women throwing themselves at the feet of these immortal abs angels. Well, I don’t know that for a fact but that’s the vibe I’m getting. . .check back in with me at the end of the week and I’ll let you know how accurate I was (probably about 2%).

Halo Series 1

 Book One: Halo

Published: August 2010
Publisher: HarperCollins
Pages: 485 {paperback}

An angel is sent to Earth on a mission.
But falling in love is not part of the plan.

Three angels – Gabriel, the warrior; Ivy, the healer; and Bethany, the youngest and most human – are sent by Heaven to bring good to a world falling under the influence of darkness. They work hard to conceal their luminous glow, superhuman powers, and, most dangerous of all, their wings, all the while avoiding all human attachments.

Then Bethany meets Xavier Woods, and neither of them is able to resist the attraction between them. Gabriel and Ivy do everything in their power to intervene, but the bond between Xavier and Bethany seems too strong.

The angel’s mission is urgent, and dark forces are threatening. Will love ruin Bethany or save her?

[Goodreads summary]

 Book Two: Hades

(I won’t post a summary as this is book two and, you know, spoilers).

 Book Three: Heaven

Publisher: HarperCollins

(Again, with the spoilers).

 Let’s see how I go!

  1. I need to do this challenge and pick The Shatter Me Trilogy. I swear I have heard nothing but amazing things about it and it has been recommended to me so many times but I haven’t read it. I promised myself I would read it this year.
