Hola amigos – today I am bringing you the joy of a book haul *intense happy dance*. Belated christmas, though? What on earth is that? Well, as a Brit living in the land of Aus, much of my familial persons live back in the land of tea. So presents don’t always get here on time (thanks postman, *hard stare*). But on top of that! I bought myself some books (because boxing day = sales) and there were a couple of other stragglers that I just ended up buying/receiving too. Ahh, happy days.

So just in case you were being kept up at night with worried thoughts of, “Oh goodness, will Kirstie have enough reading material this month?!”, fear not my friends. I do. *cough*160 I do’s*cough*.
So let’s start with the actually-christmas-presents books!
A City of a Thousand Dolls by Miriam Forster
This is one I’ve been jumping all about in excitement over. For me, COAT’D (as I’m dubbing it) is one of those books that I put in my cart, take out my cart, put in my cart again, stare at it longingly at as I take it back out again. But don’t actually ever buy it. My eternal thanks, dear uncle, for bestowing this gift upon me. And yes, that is a miniature castle in my house.
The Butterfly and the Violin by Kristy Cambron
This book was another gift from my aunt and uncle and I’m stoked about it. I found this book about maybe a year ago and the title and cover just grabbed me. It’s historical fiction and just sounds absolutely fascinating.
The Program by Suzanne Young
The Program has a very interesting plot going for it – there’s a lot of talk about this one (is the last book out? I don’t know, something like that) and this has been on my wishlist for a little while. I received this as part of a Secret Santa exchange within a Goodreads group which is very exciting!
And then I stumbled over to Booktopia (an Australian book buying website) and scoured through the deals. And boy, oh boy, did I find some.

A Long, Long Sleep by Anna Sheehan
Guys, I bought this for $4.00 AUD. Do you even know how cheap that is?! DO YOU. It’s a Sleeping Beauty retelling (or, at least, it sure sounds like one) and has such a pretty cover. I’m very excited to read this one.
The Hush Hush Saga by Becca Fitzpatrcik
You may or may not be familiar with this series, I feel like it’s one of those that people have already read ten years ago or have never heard of, *shoulder shrug*. In any case, I’ve seen this floating around and decided I WANTED it. I got this sweet boxed set for $30.00 AUD – that is less that $10.00 a book people, baargaaaain.
Book in the series:
Hush, Hush
Crescendo
Silence
Finale
The Wolves of Mercy Falls by Maggie Stiefvater
I am extremely excited about this purchase. Since Twilight, I’ve not really been able to get back into the Vampire and Werewolf scene, I have no idea why. But I have been avoiding it. However. I’ve had my eye on this series since forever – I mean, it’s Stiefvater and I’m acutely aware that I haven’t read any of her work yet. But being a ‘werewolf’ series has made me hesitate to buy it full price. I’ve been searching for it on Gumtree and other places of the bargains, but I’ve never been willing to pay the price. And then, on Booktopia, they’re selling the complete boxed trilogy IN HARDBACK for $20.00 AUD. That’s right. That is not a typo. So of course I bought them – and they’re so pretty!
Books in the series:
Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes
I can’t even, I’m just so excited to finally own this. My brother had a voucher for this little independent book shop which I went to with him to offer advice (and persuaded him to get Illuminae, #win). But of course that meant I had to buy just one book too. I feel like this is a justified choice. Bring it on!
Tah dah!! There we have it. Another glorious book haul. Hopefully you won’t see another of these until I’ve gobbled all of these up (but we all know that’s just never going to happen). I am stupendously excited about all the books I received and bought at Christmas time and whew, what a bargain – eh?
Have you read any of these books? What did you think? Let me know your thoughts below!
Arrivederci tutti and happy reading!
