Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly feature hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine. Basically, each Wednesday we have permission to do some serious flailing about in our excitement about one (just one) book that is an up and coming release! Yay!

Now for Top Ten Tuesday (hosted by The Broke and the Bookish) this week’s theme was 2016 releases (for the first half of the year) and in those weekly posts I get to make a very exciting list of 10 books – so I shan’t be repeating any of the ones I mentioned yesterday. But do check out my list HERE to see what top TEN books I’m excited about.

But Kirstie! I hear you say, whatever shall you post about today? Well, aHAH! I’ve done some research (I looked at Goodreads) and scoured through releases for next year to find something that I haven’t heard of yet. Exciting, no? Here we go: This week I’m waiting on . . . .

Perfect for fans of The Book Thief and Code Name Verity, New York Times bestselling author Michael Grant unleashes an epic, genre-bending, and transformative new series that reimagines World War II with girl soldiers fighting on the front lines.

World War II, 1942. A court decision makes women subject to the draft and eligible for service. The unproven American army is going up against the greatest fighting force ever assembled, the armed forces of Nazi Germany.

Tah dah! *takes bow*, thank you, thank you. Some hardcore scrolling brought me to this book and I went YES. What a good idea – girls drafted to fight in WWII instead of men, so many possibilities! I hope. This could be terrible, of course, and I’ve heard nothing about it. But I’m now very determined to read it because I think it’s a great idea for a story. Apologies if you have heard of this one, I tried, okay? I can only do so much. But high fives to everyone else! Just in case you didn’t know, Mr. Grant here wrote the Gone series, yeah, now who’s impressed.

Sidenote: I found quite a few other beauties in this little scrolling adventure of mine, so keep your eyes peeled over the next few Wednesdays.

Other books by Michael Grant:

The Call
BZRK
Messenger of Fear
Eve & Adam
Gone
