Is there anything not to love about this? There’s nothing better than a healthy dose of Sherlock Holmes bundled up together. I really enjoyed this collection of short stories – it was so much fun, despite every case being so short!

I found this to be a fascinating collection because of the variety of cases that are included. I really love the sense that Watson is taking you into his confidence to tell you all about some of the highlights of working with Sherlock Holmes. And that feeling is really driven home by the way that sometimes cases that went unsolved, but that still made for an excellent tale, are included. It makes the whole thing feel like a good friend is simply telling you a good story or two.

I can’t decide which of the short stories is my favourite, but The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle has to be right up there. Though I also enjoyed The Man with the Twisted Lip and The Boscombe Valley Mystery, too! Well, really, they were all fabulous.

This feels like such a fun way to satisfy an itch to get some Sherlockian stories into you, and I can see myself coming back to these in the future just to read one or two of them for fun – when I don’t fancy sitting down for a full novel.

I did the audiobook version of these, and I have to say that (obviously) Stephen Fry’s narration was incredible, but that I’m also really enjoying the extra dimension his foreword offers to each Sherlock Holmes book. I highly recommend!
