Wishlist Wednesday [#28]

Time for the second half of Wednesday! I so wish I could buy some of these books but let me tell you now, I’m not winning the battle with my TBR. Not to mention that there are so many amazing books coming out in September that there’s just about no room to actually read anything else!

Wishlist Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted @ Pen to Paper where we get to feature a book that’s been on our wishlist for a long time that we want to buy/read! I have a hugely extensive list that I keep updated over on The Book Depository so I’m never short of books that I’m wishing on.

Where do I make my lists? First and foremost I use my “sound good” shelf on Goodreads where I basically keep track of all the books I’ve encountered that tickle my fancy. BUT, The Book Depository has my most concise list of all the books that I so dearly want to throw my money at and look at one my shelf.

 This week I’m wishing on . . .

Witchstruck
by Victoria Lamb

book 1 in The Tudor Witch Trilogy

Genre: Young Adult, Historical Fiction, Paranormal
Author: Victoria Lamb
Published: July 2012
Publisher: Harlequin Teen
Pages: 320 {paperback}

If she sink, she be no witch and shall be drowned.
If she float, she be a witch and must be hanged.
Meg Lytton has always known she is different; that she bears a dark and powerful gift. But in 1554 England, in service at Woodstock Palace to the banished Tudor princess Elizabeth, it has never been more dangerous to practise witchcraft. Meg knows she must guard her secret carefully from the many suspicious eyes watching over the princess and her companions. One wrong move could mean her life, and the life of Elizabeth, rightful heir to the English throne.
With witchfinder Marcus Dent determined to have Meg’s hand in marriage, and Meg’s own family conspiring against the English queen, there isn’t a single person Meg can trust. Certainly not the enigmatic young Spanish priest Alejandro de Castillo, despite her undeniable feelings. But when all the world turns against her, Meg must open her heart to a dangerous choice.

I feel like I’ve read a surprising lack of books about witches – and by that I mean within historical fiction. There are so many out there but I keep managing to avoid a lot of paranormal fiction, and no, I have no idea why.

I do think that this sounds really promising, however! I can’t until I pick this one up and see what it’s all about! I’m loving the cover too – orange is always a win. I’m basically 100% sold on the blurb, alone, it really does sound fantastic and like something I’ll like. Plus there’s the added bonus of a gloriously rich historical setting!
