Waiting on Wednesday [#33]

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill over @ Breaking the Spine and each week we get to pick an up-and-coming release that we’re excited about. I always look forwards to this because it gives me an excuse to scroll through the never ending lists on Goodreads of books that are coming out. AND IT IS FUN MY FRIENDS. Lists are the 3rd most satisfying thing in life (after sniffing books and free chocolate).

Seventeen year-old Britta Flannery is at ease only in the woods with her dagger and bow. She spends her days tracking criminals alongside her father, the legendary bounty hunter for the King of Malam—that is, until her father is murdered. Now outcast and alone and having no rights to her father’s land or inheritance, she seeks refuge where she feels most safe: the Ever Woods. When Britta is caught poaching by the royal guard, instead of facing the noose she is offered a deal: her freedom in exchange for her father’s killer.

However, it’s not so simple.

The alleged killer is none other than Cohen McKay, her father’s former apprentice. The only friend she’s ever known. The boy she once loved who broke her heart. She must go on a dangerous quest in a world of warring kingdoms, mad kings, and dark magic to find the real killer. But Britta wields more power than she knows. And soon she will learn what has always made her different will make her a daunting and dangerous force.

[Goodreads summary]

I can’t deal with how pretty this cover is. It PLEASES my eyes. I’m very, very excited to read this book (and we’re not going to dwell on the fact that it comes out in LATE December *sobbing*) as it sounds so awesome I think I might explode. My initial reaction upon seeing the cover and skimming the blurb was DEFIANCE (C. J. Redwine) + TRICK (Natalia Jaster) = THIS. Which isn’t really founded upon a solid anything but that’s just what my brain did and I thought you’d be interested, okay?

In reality! It sounds like some mysterious events take place in Britta’s  (strong, awesome heroine, probably) life and she’s going to be the one to put wrongs to right! I mean, she’s basically living in a forest. This is screaming Robin Hood, and I am fanning myself with excitement. AND THEN, the supposed murderer guy (who killed her dad) is someone she knows?! I bet he’s not! I bet they fall in love and it’s WONDERFUL. I bloody love this troupes. I shouldn’t, but I do, *cough*A Thousand Pieces of You*cough*.

Oh, and did I mention there’s magic and power and warring kingdoms? Because there is. I need this book like air.
