Waiting on Wednesday [#26]

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill @ Breaking the SpineIt’s a tremendously fun thing to be because you have an excuse to gallivant through the 2016 releases (and probably buy far too many books). It’s also fantastic fun to head over to the official page and check out the link up to what everyone else is waiting on!

This week I’m waiting on . . .

Leave Me
by Gayle Forman

cover

Genre: Contemporary, Adult Fiction
Author: Gayle Forman
Publisher: Algonquin Books
Pages: 352 {hardback}

For every woman who has ever fantasized about driving past her exit on the highway instead of going home to make dinner, for every woman who has ever dreamed of boarding a train to a place where no one needs constant attention–meet Maribeth Klein. A harried working mother who’s so busy taking care of her husband and twins, she doesn’t even realize she’s had a heart attack.
Afterward, surprised to discover that her recuperation seems to be an imposition on those who rely on her, Maribeth does the unthinkable: She packs a bag and leaves. But, as is so often the case, once we get to where we’re going, we see our lives from a different perspective. Far from the demands of family and career and with the help of liberating new friendships, Maribeth is finally able to own up to secrets she has been keeping from those she loves and from herself.
With big-hearted characters who stumble and trip, grow and forgive, Leave Me is about facing our fears. Gayle Forman, a dazzling observer of human nature, has written an irresistible novel that confronts the ambivalence of modern motherhood head-on.

I’m really curious about this book namely because it’s written by Gayle Forman. I think that if it wasn’t her who’d wrote it I probably wouldn’t be interested. If I’m being honest, I don’t think the blurb sounds “amazing”. It sounds very much so like the next book but I know that Forman has a real way with writing so I expect that I’ll probably thoroughly enjoy this book when I do get to read.

Obviously, I’m a bit of a fan of Forman’s. I’ve read the If I Stay duology (the second book was very . . . not good) and I Was Here (which was terrifying in a good way). This of course means I’m super interested about her next book and think I will definitely pick it up if I get the chance.

  1. I love that you have a dalek guarding your books. I know that’s completely unrelated to your WoW post but yes… love that!

    I do enjoy Gayle Forman books but I’m not sure this one is one I’m all that eager to read. I’m not a mother/wife or any of that and books with those main characters do interest me but I’m not sure I’m the target audience. That said I think I’ll probably read it sometime in the future. But more of a library book rather than a must read.
