Wishlist Wednesday [#14]

Wishlist Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted @ Pen to Paper where we get to feature a book that’s been on our wishlist for a long time that we want to buy/read! I have a hugely extensive list that I keep updated over on The Book Depository so I’m never short of books that I’m wishing on.

Where do I make my lists? First and foremost I use my “sound good” shelf on Goodreads where I basically keep track of all the books I’ve encountered that tickle my fancy. BUT, The Book Depository has my most concise list of all the books that I so dearly want to throw my money at and look at one my shelf.

 This week I’m wishing on . . .

After Eden
by Helen Douglas

ADD IT ON GOODREADS

cover

Genre: Young Adult, Sci-Fi (time-travel)
Author: Helen Douglas
Published: August 2013
Publisher: Bloomsbury Childrens Books
Pages: 288 {paperback}

Eden Anfield loves puzzles, so when mysterious new boy Ryan Westland shows up at her school she’s hooked. On the face of it, he’s a typical American teenager. So why doesn’t he recognise pizza? And how come he hasn’t heard of Hitler? What puzzles Eden the most, however, is the interest he’s taking in her.

As Eden starts to fall in love with Ryan, she begins to unravel his secret. Her breakthrough comes one rainy afternoon when she stumbles across a book in Ryan’s bedroom – a biography of her best friend – written over fifty years in the future. Confronting Ryan, she discovers that he is there with one unbelievably important purpose … and she might just have destroyed his only chance of success.

I’ve had this one on my Wishlist for so long now. It’s one of those books that has sat on my radar for a long time but I’ve never decided to grab a copy of it and have a read. I adore time travel so any book that involves it immediately has me interested.

I think the whole mysterious character of Ryan and the potentially doomed romance in this book will be a lot of fun. This blurb reminds me of the episode in Doctor Who called Blink. For Whovians out there, you might get my drift. But basically I just love this whole out of sync business that seems to be going on so I’m keen to find out more!

  1. Yes! I love the Weeping Angels (or maybe I’m just terrified of them) 😉 Adding this one to my list of TBR. Thanks for sharing!
