Wishlist Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted @ Pen to Paper where we get to feature a book that’s been on our wishlist for a long time that we want to buy/read! I have a hugely extensive list that I keep updated over on The Book Depository so I’m never short of books that I’m wishing on.
Where do I make my lists? First and foremost I use my “sound good” shelf on Goodreads where I basically keep track of all the books I’ve encountered that tickle my fancy. BUT, The Book Depository has my most concise list of all the books that I so dearly want to throw my money at and look at one my shelf.
This week I’m wishing on . . .
Bloodfire Quest by Terry Brooks
Book two in The Dark Legacy of Shannara Chronicles
Genre: Fantasy, Adventure
Author: Terry Brooks
Published: June 2013 {1st pub. October 2012}
Publisher: Orbit
Pages: 480 {paperback}
Excuse me whilst I FLAIL. This is hopefully a book that I will get my hands on soon because I recently read the first book, Wards of Faerie, and loved it to pieces! I also absolutely adore the covers in this edition. This is my first dip into Brooks’ writing and I believe the word I’m looking for is SOLD. I love his very clever way of telling a tale that feels so magical and real and is blissfully one of those worlds that has imprinted itself on my mind. I cannot wait to continue the series because we have cruelly been left on a brutal cliff hanger and my heart does shudder at the thought of what might happen to some of the characters.
I’m really interested to see how I view this series once I have a crack at Brooks’ main series: The Shannara Chronicles (or, officially, The Original Shannara Trilogy). You may or may not have heard of it (but it’s a pretty big deal, I hear) and this series is actually connected to it. So far I’ve had no troubles understanding what’s going on, though, so that’s great! I’m definitely interested in how he’s written a huge number of books (seriously, see the list below) and they’re all in cannon with each other. This has got to be one of the most epic tales in fantasy.
There are also some of the coolest fictional characters in this series and I love how many stories there are and I just know it’s going to be epic when they all come together. This is totally a series everyone who loves their high fantasy should read!
And to show you just how involved Brooks is in the fantasy world, check out this infinite list of his other works:
