For those of you who are not familiar with this subscription company, The YA Chronicles are an Australian based group that have a different theme each month for what goes in the box. The box contains one Young Adult Fiction novel and 3-5 little tidbits as well.
I love this subscription box as the stuff that comes in it are great quality and the books are always fantastic picks. I highly recommend you head over and check them out.
January’s theme was:
Travel the World
When I first saw that I thought of several books that it could be. One of which I was I was eager to get my hands on but thought, surely not. Guess what? I was right!! So here we have the book and the rest of the contents that comes with the box for the month of January!
What was in the box . . .
So as you can see this box was MARVELOUS. There are quite a few little amazing goodies in this one and I can’t wait to use them. I was 100% not expecting the book to be Passenger by Alexandra Bracken because it’s so popular and just wow, I’m excited. *happy dance*.

Etta Spencer is a violin prodigy. When tragedy strikes and a mysterious power tied closely to her musical abilities manifests, Etta is pulled back through time to 1776 in the midst of a fierce sea battle.
Her capture was orchestrated by the Ironwoods, the most powerful family in the Colonies. Nicholas Carter, handsome, young, prize master of a privateering ship, has been charged with retrieving and delivering her to the family – unharmed.
Etta learns her fate is entwined with an object of untold value from her past. Ironwood is desperate to secure his future, but Etta must find it first in order to return home. Embarking on a perilous journey across centuries and continents, piecing together clues left behind from a mysterious traveller, the true nature of the object and Ironwood’s dangerous game, could mean the end for Nicholas and Etta …
I took two things from that blurb: time travel, and pirates. Who needs more?

This is the necklace that came in the box. As you can see, it says ‘Wanderlust’ and is super pretty. And yes, I am currently wearing. This is the second time I’ve received a jewelry piece through the company and both have been fabulous. Seeing as it’s always book related or just plain cool, I am always happy.
Now this stuff is very cool. It’s a sort of travel journal and within that cardboard box-y thing you can see what a cool collection of those cards with various continents/countries on them. There was also a travel journal to write in. How does it work? You get a coin (or a nail, I suppose) and scratch off the golden/brown colour to mark the places that you’ve been to. Cool huh? Yup. What’s even cooler is that they suggest you do this for the places you’ve ‘visited’ in books. I’m going to have a lot of fun doing this.
This was the final piece in the box and it’s a temporary tattoo! Yay! I love these things. We did get one a couple of boxes back that was a Dark Mark (from Harry Potter) so I’m hoping we continue to get these in future boxes. There’s just something ridiculously satisfying about sticking stuff onto other stuff, whether it be fake tattoos onto your body, stickers to a door, or spaghetti to the wall. This one is an outline of the world. And I have also put this on.
Voila!
So there you have it. Volume five complete! You do also get a bookmark with each box (as you can see in the first photo) which is nice because it’s always a different colour. I love everything in this box and I canNOT wait to read the book!
Do you also subscribe to the YA Chronicles? What did you think of this box?
