Given that we’re one day away from May, I think it’s a good time to look back and reflect on things I’ve learnt from what I’ve read so far in 2019. I don’t often think about what books have taught me, I must admit, but this year I’ve definitely picked up a few books that have made me go ooh, I didn’t know that!
So, I’m doing the wrong prompt for this week’s Top Ten Tuesday but THAT’S OKAY. I didn’t fancy doing the actual prompt so I’m doing the one from last week because YAY RAIN! Going into winter in Australia, my mind is turning towards all the epic fantasies, cosy contemporaries and chunky monkies of books that I want to tuck into. This is the perfect opportunity to share with you my personal recommendations for rainy day reads!
Hello, hello! I’m deviating from the course today and semi-freestyling. I wasn’t inspired by today’s prompt for Top Ten Tuesday for whatever reason so I’ve done something on a different topic. So I hope you’re ready to explore the top ten characters (in my opinion) who warm the cockles of your heart and make you want to befriend them INSTANTLY.
Howdy, friends! I hope you all had a good Halloween and didn’t go too overkill on candy (just kidding, is it even Halloween if you don’t gorge yourself on chocolate?!?!) It’s nearly one week into November and I’ve only just realised that October has finished and I probably should’ve started on my wrap-up – OOPS. Don’t worry, I’m organised. I’m on top of things. Well . . . at the very least I’ve had a few good boogies to All I Want for Christmas. Judge me not, my little grinches.
Villains are all well and good but nothing tickles my fancy more than an original monster for our heroes to fight off. I hope you’re all doing well this Halloween season and have your costumes prepped and ready to go. Whilst I’m not much of a Halloween goer myself (being, well, not American) you can’t deny any excuse to carve faces into pumpkins isn’t a good one!
Nothing beats an adorable abomination. I positively cackle with delight when an author throws me a character who sits happily in the grey area – the area of the CONFUSED FEELINGS – the space between good and evil but also mostly in evil. And do I have a list and a half of these bad boys.
We all have those books, don’t we? The enormous page-counters that are absolutely the cause of the bowing shelves of our bookcases. The ones that have been there for years because who even has time to dedicate to that many pages in one book?! Well, let me tell you about some of those lurking tomes of mine today.
