Whew I struggled to put this one down/go to bed at appropriate times. I was just reading and reading until ungodly hours like 11pm (I’m old, okay, don’t judge, 11 is LATE) to get to the end. I’d heard lots of great things about this book and I LOVE the cover – but even then I wasn’t expecting this to be so spine-tinglingly good and addictive.

The characters in this story are so weird and I love it. The unexpected and abrupt chemistry oozing off Grayson and Jameson was so odd, but made perfect sense with the vibe of the book. Xander was hilarious and also strange – why is he so nice? What does he stand to gain?

Nash I confess I forgot about most of the time. He wasn’t so exciting. I just imaging him lurking in dark corners and mysteriously disappearing into bushes.

Avery as a character was good, she was appropriate levels of confused and curious. Though I did feel like the ball got dropped on Libby and Max towards the end. Their characters petered out a bit, which was a shame. But hey, there’s a lot of characters to keep tabs on in here.

I was so anxious reading this knowing that it’s a trilogy because CLIFF-HANGERS were bound to happen (I was right). I obviously need book two now so work out what the heck is going on. But that’s the best thing about this book, the fact that you’re wracking your brain the whole time trying to work out what the heck is going on and having absolutely no idea.

This felt very Agatha Christie-y to me which was a sure sign that it was some good stuff. If you haven’t read this book yet then you’re missing out on a fun, weird and awesome mystery in the YA zone. Nothing makes people two-faced like an inheritance gone wrong (think of the movie Knives Out).
