Bring on another day of Quick-Add-It-To-The-TBR post! I love going hunting each week for a new book to discuss on Wednesdays, my wallet, however, does not. WoW is a weekly meme hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine. It’s a great way to hear about new books and if you head over to the official page and wrangle through the link-up you’ll be sure to find some hidden treasures!
This week I’m waiting on . . .
And I Darken by Kiersten White
Book number one in The Conquerors Saga
No one expects a princess to be brutal. And Lada Dragwyla likes it that way.
Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy, Historical Fiction
Author: Kiersten White
Publisher: Corgi Childrens
Pages: 400 {paperback}
RELEASE DATE: 7th July 2016
// PRE-ORDER //
Ever since she and her brother were abandoned by their father to be raised in the Ottoman sultan’s courts, Lada has known that ruthlessness is the key to survival. For the lineage that makes her and her brother special also makes them targets.
Lada hones her skills as a warrior as she nurtures plans to wreak revenge on the empire that holds her captive. Then she and Radu meet the sultan’s son, Mehmed, and everything changes. Now Mehmed unwittingly stands between Lada and Radu as they transform from siblings to rivals, and the ties of love and loyalty that bind them together are stretched to breaking point.
The first of an epic new trilogy starring the ultimate anti-princess who does not have a gentle heart. Lada knows how to wield a sword, and she’ll stop at nothing to keep herself and her brother alive.
I can’t remember how I found out about this book – I think it might have been Twitter – but I fell in love with the cover! It’s so mysterious and the design is awesome. I think the whole premise of the book sounds pretty wicked, too. Being an historical fantasy, I think I will lap this up and if I was making a list of historical periods I love reading about, The Ottoman Empire would come a close second after anything Russian.
But I mean, we have a self-proclaimed badass, warrior princess ready to take down some important people. I just love that idea that not only will Lada be awesome, but the author isn’t hiding her behind misconceptions, she’s just flat-out the bad girl. You can’t say that this doesn’t sound promising.

I think they recently changed the cover and blurb for this book, I remember seeing a different one for this book ages ago. I definitely prefer the one you’ve featured for both, makes me a little more interested in actually picking it up (I’m very shallow and pick most of my books because of the covers :D)
Great picks for this weeks WoW!

Yep that’s the one! I did like that cover design but I think I do prefer the second one just because it seems darker and I think it fits the story better, if that makes sense!
