The YA Chronicles Unboxing: February 2016

Each month I get so unbelievably excited for this subscription box to arrive – it’s almost cruel doing this to myself and sitting around rocking back and forth by mid-month anticipating it. There’s always amazing things within and the books selection is on point!

For those of you that don’t know what The YA Chronicles is – it’s a bookish subscription box that is based in Australia and contains one Young Adult new release with 2-5 related nicknacks. They also ‘stamp’ each book in the boxes with an imprint stamp, so if you open the first page you can see the indent of their logo. Which is very cool. The box for each month is themed as well, obviously for the added entertainment of torturing yourself trying to guess what’ll be in the box each time.

The YA Chronicles F16

This is my fourth box from them, I believe, and I haven’t been disappointed yet. February’s them was:

Rebel with a Cause

And I totally should’ve guessed what book would be in the box this month but I somehow managed to guess wrong. Which meant I was SO thrilled when I opened it – I’ve been itching to get my hands on a copy of this book!

 The Box

The YA Chronicles All F16
Disclaimer: I bought the frame – the frame did not come in the box

I was really impressed with this month’s box; there were so many things in it. Not to mention how excited I was about receiving Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton – and the cover is BEYOND beautiful. I had seriously been considering buying this book just the other day so I am so glad that I didn’t seeing as this was what was coming in the box! I’m loving the poster as well – I did a quick trip down to K-mart to pick up from photo frames (they’re really cheap there, by the way) to frame both this and the art prints I received in the December box. So now my newest bookshelf is looking very pretty.

Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton

Rebel of the Sands

Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy
Author: Alwyn Hamilton
Published: February 2016
Publisher: Faber & Faber
Pages: 358 {paperback}

The most important part of the box! Rebel of the Sands came out in February and lots and lots of people have been anticipating its release. It came with a cute little promotional bookmark as well. I couldn’t wait for this mostly because of the cover and the Arabian feel that the cover is giving off. This book is the most beautiful thing in existence and I cannot wait to start reading it! Once I’m finished with my current book I’m going to be diving straight into this one – I hope I’m not disappointed!

 The Poster

Poster TYACF16
Custom made Mockingjay Poster from Behind the Pages on Etsy

I am in love with this poster. I see so many beautiful things on Etsy and Redbubble (in particular) and always want to buy them, but I can never justify buying posters because I already have quite a few (90% Doctor Who posters, if I’m being honest). But this looks awesome and makes me feel the need to buy the latest edition of the series (the UK one with the cameo colours) because AH. One can never have too many edition of The Hunger Games. This is sitting nice and comfy on top of my squangular bookshelf.

The Pin

Rebel Sands TYACF16

This is such an adorable little pin that looks marvellous. I’m not sure if I’d wear it anywhere – maybe to Comic Con or something? But it sure looks cool hanging about in my room. If you want to know what I do with my pins, because they’re great things to collect but then it’s a bit like, what next? Then have a look below:

My Pins

This is just an Irish lanyard that I acquired at some point and have dangling off the edge of my desk/bookshelf (I really should take a photo of it so you actually know what it looks like). As you can see, I already have an extensive collection of Throne of Glass pins that I received from Bloomsbury as part of a pre-ordering deal last year. The collection grows!

 The Lip Balm

Dauntless Cake TYACF16
‘Dauntless Cake’ lip balm from From The Page on Etsy

This stuff is DELICIOUS. It smells absolutely amazing – all coconuty and almondy (or something). This is lip balm called ‘Dauntless Cake’ – inspired from the Divergent series. This awesome lip balm and I’m loving it. I love how people are able to come up with this stuff inspired from books, it’s amazing!

 The Stickers

The Sticker Alley TYACF16
Throne of Glass character stickers from TheStickerAlley on Etsy

Aren’t they adorable? These are Throne of Glass inspired sticker characters of Celaena, Dorian, Chaol, and Rowan. I genuinely never know what to do with stickers so for now I’ve just propped them up against stuff on my desk. Seriously, what does everyone else do with stickers?? Either way, they’re pretty spiffy.

The Tea

Literary Tea TYACF16
Book inspired tea from the Literary TeaCo

*Sips tea*  . . . . . . *much nodding*

This tea is from a cute shop that does ‘literary teas’ – so flavours inspired from books. This one, being called The Lunar Rebellion, is based of The Lunar Chronicles (which I haven’t read). Which is a great idea! And the tea is definitely a thumbs up.
