Wishlist Wednesday [#6]

Wednesday take two! Welcome back to Wishlist Wednesday – this is such a dangerous weekly meme because it means I have to actively seek out those books I’ve been meaning to buy FOREVER and talk about them. Honestly, blogging is really going to make me broke.

Wishlist Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted @ Pen to Paper where we get to feature a book that’s been on our wishlist for a long time that we want to buy/read! I have a hugely extensive list that I keep updated over on The Book Depository so I’m never short of books that I’m wishing on.

Where do I make my lists? First and foremost I use my “sound good” shelf on Goodreads where I basically keep track of all the books I’ve encountered that tickle my fancy. BUT, The Book Depository has my most concise list of all the books that I so dearly want to throw my money at and look at one my shelf.

 This week I’m wishing on . . .

Isle of Night by Veronica Wolff

ADD IT ON GOODREADS

Is life offering fewer and fewer options? Then join the dead.

Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy (paranormal — vampires)
Author: Veronica Wolff
Published: September 2011
Publisher: NAL
Pages: 302 {paperback}

When Annelise meets dark and seductive Ronan, he promises her a new life-if she has the courage to chance the unknown. Now, she’s whisked away to a mysterious island and pitted against other female recruits to become a Watcher-girls who are partnered with vampires and assist them in their missions. To survive and become a Watcher, Annelise has to beat out every other girl, but she’s determined to do so, because to fail doesn’t mean dishonor-it means death.

Okay, so you’re probably thinking BUT KIRTIE that cover is hideous. And yes, I know it is. But let’s all take some deep breaths and remember that it’s what’s on the inside that counts, yes? Look at you scoffing at me. (In all seriousness, someone please save this book and do a cover redo, PLEASE).

Any book that so entices me by suggesting that I should come to the dark side (you know, the dead) and live out a crazy wild life has my attention. But I hope you actually read that synopsis because I’m sold, well and truly. Of course this happens to be another tragic story of it not being available from The Book Depository right now *angry stomping* but NEVER FEAR because I have so many damn books I’m sure I can be patient and wait.

This book actually reminds me of a twisted version of Robin LaFevers’ His Fair Assassin trilogy (I don’t know why) but that makes me have very high expectations of it. Oh, you haven’t read that trilogy? QUICK, GO BUY IT. Just imagine this with a wicked, new cover – it would quite literally be flying off the shelves. Also, did you notice the main dude is called Ronan? That’s got to mean he’s good looking, fantastic with a sword, and probably dark and mysterious.

Oh yes, and there are vampires. I WILL get back into the vampire side of fiction. I will.
