Wishlist Wednesday [#5]

*gets out deer hat*, it’s time to go sleuthing through my wishlist! Wishlist Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted @ Pen to Paper where we get to feature a book that’s been on our wishlist for a long time that we want to buy/read! I have a hugely extensive list that I keep updated over on The Book Depository so I’m never short of books that I’m wishing on.

Where do I make my lists? First and foremost I use my “sound good” shelf on Goodreads where I basically keep track of all the books I’ve encountered that tickle my fancy. BUT, The Book Depository has my most concise list of all the books that I so dearly want to throw my money at and look at one my shelf.

 This week I’m wishing on . . .

The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson

ADD IT ON GOODREADS

Once a century, one person is chosen for greatness.
Elisa is the chosen one.

Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy
Author: Rae Carson
Published: September 2011
Publisher: Greenwillow
Pages: 423 {hardback}

But she is also the younger of two princesses, the one who has never done anything remarkable. She can’t see how she ever will.

Now, on her sixteenth birthday, she has become the secret wife of a handsome and worldly king—a king whose country is in turmoil. A king who needs the chosen one, not a failure of a princess.

And he’s not the only one who seeks her. Savage enemies seething with dark magic are hunting her. A daring, determined revolutionary thinks she could be his people’s savior. And he looks at her in a way that no man has ever looked at her before. Soon it is not just her life, but her very heart that is at stake.

Elisa could be everything to those who need her most. If the prophecy is fulfilled. If she finds the power deep within herself. If she doesn’t die young.

Most of the chosen do.

Um, HELLO? Does this not sound awesome? Yes, yes it does. I dearly hope that upon the day on which I finally purchase and read this I will be as flabbergasted as I’m expecting to be. I love everything about this description and have reasonably high expectations for this book. This has been on my wishlist for so long but I’ve just never committed to buying it. Gah! Maybe this year . . . maybe.
