This was my first Beth O'Leary, and it was very much so as pacy and page-turning as I had anticipated. I read this while on a little holiday and I have to say, she makes for excellent vacation reading.
My main takeaway from going through all the July releases is that July is cosy crime month! There were so many fun and quirky mysteries abound (and plenty more that didn't make my list).
This was an absolutely epic tale that had all the great vibes of an Arthurian legend retelling. I found the broad concept to be super unique - a land sustained on the belief of tales, but very specifically in that each tale is connected to a piece of land on the Isle, and if that tale was forgotten, so too would the land connected to it disappear.
I am thrilled to report that this lived up to my expectations and beyond. This is very much so a tongue-in-cheek romantasy (light on the romance) that is thoroughly enjoyable. It's full of sass, simmering with enemies-to-lovers expectations, and has some seriously fun magic/world-building.
It's that time of the month! August has some really exciting titles coming out - and happily, I'm travelling to Edinburgh this month and will catch some of the Edinburgh Book Festival (I'll try to remember to take some pictures to share!) Let's take a look at what we can adorn our shelves with this month.
This was absolutely magnificent and has to be one of my favourite reads of the year so far. I wasn't 100% sure what to expect going into this because I thought I'd heard some good and some meh things, but I can confirm that this is all the good things.
Well, hello. It's been a while since I've posted anything other than a review - but here we are! Back in the good old days, I used to post regular upcoming release posts, and you know what? I miss doing that.
I wanted to love this more than I did, but I just felt that this was ultimately a bit 'meh'. It's a very fun (and funny) concept, bringing together some classic fantasy tropes with cowboy vibes, and the queerness is delightfully through the roof.
