【 EMPIRE OF STORMS 】
book #5 in the Throne of Glass series
Genre: Fantasy
Audience: Young Adult
Author: Sarah J. Maas
Published: September 2016
Publisher: Bloomsbury
Pages: 689 (hardback)
This was excellent reading for the second time – but boy oh boy is it a long book.
I thought I would have the stamina to power through this series back to back, but I must admit I need to take a knee before continuing this epic tale.
I can’t get over how enormous the plot is – and the complexities of it are delightful and thrilling as it all unfolds. If sometimes perhaps a stretch too convenient.
The one thing I didn’t like as much is the intense way the relationships between all characters switch gears so suddenly from interesting and complex, to sex-driven and insanely lustful (and the focus on pairing off is somewhat tedious). But that aside, I do so love this story.
It is easy to overlook any minor things that didn’t fully sit well with me in the face of how truly epic this story has become. I can’t wait to actually finish the last two books and find out how it all ends!!
