August Wrap-Up! | 2020

Hello strangers! It has been over a week since I last posted, I do apologise. Have I been busy? Why yes I have. As a tip off, if I ever disappear spontaneously like that and you’re unsure if I’ve been abducted by aliens or am just busy, always head over to my YouTube Channel because that is less time consuming to make/edit than blogging so I’d have to be pretty damn busy to not have videos going up, too (/abducted by aliens).

This was incredible. It is one of my favourite books in 2020 and I can’t get over how good it was. It’s a sweeping tale of the impact of slavery upon generations of people. Well-worth the read!

This lived up to the hype which is awesome! I really enjoyed the magnitude of the magic system and the awesome characters in this story. It was so hard to put down so I powered through it!

This was a very sweet story of a man who survived the Holocaust. I read this so quickly because it’s quite short but just such a wonderful and honest account of his story that I just had to read it quickly.

I really enjoyed revisiting this in the illustrated version. It’s amazing how much the fourth book matures from the previous ones and it ends on such a solemn note. I semi-terrified to see how big the Order of the Phoenix is going to be in this format!

This took me a little while to get through but I absolutely loved it. This is a magnificent magic system revolving around the light spectrum. I can’t wait to continue the series and I’ll probably continue it via audiobook which is how I read this one.

what about me

August was lowkey a disaster! I was sick three separate times and down and out each time which was awful. I was so tired from being sick I’m surprised I got any reading done at all. Which also happens to mean I really don’t have much to share this month as I think I spent 3 of the 4 weeks in bed feeling sorry for myself.

Not only that, I didn’t wait a single movie either. I don’t know how I manage that either, I think I must be allergic to TV or something.

Uni is going well, despite all of that, which is the good news. Uni is also the reason I’ve been failing to get this post up sooner than I did. It’s been on my mind for two weeks now but amazingly I was swamped with assignments in the first four weeks of this semester and have been unable to find a few hours to write some posts between classes, studying, work and everything else that I do.

Oh I can think of one random thing to talk about! I’m rather certain my laptop is about to die. Is this interesting to you? Probably not. It actually very nearly died last year but a clever person managed to resurrect it. So I’m really hoping it hangs in there until at least Christmas. I’m saving up to buy a MacBook Pro (I love Macs for laptops but am a Windows gal all the way for PCs) and I can’t WAIT! Alright. I’ve reached the ends of my news for this month.

I’m looking forward for my September wrap-up because if you haven’t seen my TBR Jar video, then you’ll want to!

Tick! August done!

What was your favourite book that you read in August?

Happy reading!
