RYBSAT Wrap-Up #8

Sadly, another round of RYBSAT has come to a close. I love RYSAT, it’s my favourite read-a-thon that happens throughout the year and I find it so much fun with all the sprints hosted on twitter!

RYBSAT is a read-a-thon hosted by Miranda @ BooKss101 and it occurs every 3 months, I think. It stands for: Read-Your-Bookshelf-a-thon and the aim is to pick a point on your bookshelf and that’s where you start, then, you continue reading each book consecutively along your shelf and try to get through as many books as you can.

I was really busy (ugh) with uni throughout this round so I didn’t get as much reading done as I would’ve liked, but nonetheless I’m really pleased with what I did do. I read 1.5 books.

This was the section on my shelf I was reading from:

The ultimate goal was to read 2.5 books despite me picking four – but I always like to have a big goal in my mind to spur me on. Unfortunately, the other two will have to wait for another time to be read – with all the shiny new releases that have come out they’ve been put back on the shelf for now!

 Book One:

Talon by Julie Kagawa

Genre: Fantasy (dragons), Young Adult
Author: Julie Kagawa
Published: January 2015
Publisher: MIRA ink
Pages: 445 {paperback}

My rating: 4/5 stars

So of course I enjoyed this one – it’s Kagawa, how could I not? I loved the premise for this book and I think there were a bundle of really awesome things that happened. I think the series is going to really take off in the next few books so I’m eager to continue reading. This was a really solid start to the series and really set up the character well. Bring on the dragon fights!

My review

Book Two:

Seraphina by Rachel Hartman

Genre: Fantasy (dragons), Young Adult
Author: Rachel Hartman
Published: January 2013
Publisher: Corgi Children’s
Pages: 359 {paperback}

My rating: 4.5/5 stars

I really enjoyed this one and I think it’s such a brilliant dragon book. If you love fantasy with dragons then oh my goodness you need to read this series. I can’t wait to continue on with the next book. Also, that cover. I think this is one of my favourite book covers.

Review to come

So there we have it. Another read-a-thon done and dusted. I really enjoyed this one and I can’t wait for the next round. My favourite thing about these is that it gets you on to reading books that you’d probably leave on your shelf a bit longer otherwise.

Did you participate in RYBSAT #8?
