 Black: A Series That’s Tough To Get Into But Has Hardcore Fans

The Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss

Now, I choose this one because IT IS AMAZING AND WHY HAVEN’T YOU READ IT? But they’re so humongously huge that I think a lot of people get put off reading them. Which is a shame because you charge through them in a very excitable manner as they’re so good. If I had to pick a back up answer for this one I would definitely go with Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn series.

 Peppermint Mocha: A Book That Gets More Popular During the Winter or A Festive Time of Year

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens

Because if you haven’t thought about this book during December then you probably don’t read classics. Or you live under a rock. Every December I see numerous posts of people being all cute and rereading this book by the fire (or the sea, if you live in the Southern Hemisphere like moi). And it’s finally rubbed off on me too – my family have this wonderful illustrated edition that we all take turns reading out to each other during the month building up to Christmas. Aren’t we adorable.

 Hot Chocolate: A Favourite Children’s Book

The BFG by Roald Dahl

Did you see what I did there? Did ya? That’s right! I didn’t pick the Harry Potter series. You have no idea how tempting it was. But for me, at least, any of the Roald Dahl books hark back to shiny, happy childhood days. The BFG, in particular, was my favourite story (and don’t even talk to me about the movie because I’m going to pass out in anticipation of its release). But other great ones for me were Matilda and The Twits. I actually watched more than read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory but don’t worry, I’m still familiar with the story.

 Double Shot of Espresso: A Book That Kept You on the Edge of Your Seat From Start to Finish

Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes

For this one I have to go with Falling Kingdoms. Why? Because I read it in 3 sittings – When I woke up, after breakfast, and after lunch. BECAUSE ARLKGJDGJ. This book was un-put-downable. Literally. I you haven’t read this series yet then what on earth are you doing with your life.

 Starbucks: A Book You See Everywhere

A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin

I chalenge you, dear reader, to find a book store that does not have this book is a position of notable note-y-ness. Not that that’s a bad thing – it’s a fabulous book. I always see at least 3 boxed sets of The Song of Ice and Fire series in every bookstore EVER and it just makes me want to buy them all over again even though my family already has a copy.

 That Hipster Coffee Shop: A Book By an Indie Author (A Shoutout)

From A Distant Star by Karen McQuestion

I don’t know whether you’d count this as ‘indie’ but people, can you please get on and read this? This book was so much fun to read. It’s a sci-fi story about a girl who’s boyfriend is dying from cancer (I think), but when an alien spaceship crashes and the sole survivor takes over his body, he miraculously recovers . . . but the alien ain’t leaving. It’s hilarious because this alien has no idea what he’s doing and they both go on a pretty dang cool adventure to fix the dilemma.

 Oops! I Accidentally Got Decaf: A Book You Were Expecting More From

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

Bleh, bleh, bleh, BLEEH. Oh wow did I just just enjoy this book. I don’t have much to say for this except why does everyone love it so much? And how ugly is this edition? I just didn’t enjoy this. End of story.

 The Perfect Blend: A Book Or Series That Was Both Bitter and Sweet, but Ultimately Satisfying

The Wicked Lovely Series by Melissa Marr

I’ve chosen this one for relatively sketchy reasons. This was probably one of the first YA series about fae that I read and the first series that was long and which I committed to. Admittedly, this was slow going. But then again I think I’d find things very different if I reread it now. Which I intend on doing at some point. I still have some quite fond memories of this book and I really did love the set up of the fae world – but I’ve literally never seen anyone talk about it on the internet. SO TAH DAH.

 Green Tea: A Book or Series That Is Quietly Beautiful

The Game of Love and Death by Martha Brokenbrough

I’m convinced that if I keep stealthily mentioning this and slipping it into my posts it’ll suddenly become SO HUGE and everyone will be reading it. I cannot express how much you should read this – THIS IS LOVE AND DEATH PERSONIFIED AND PLAYING A GAME WITH HUMANS. Guys. Get your act together and go buy a copy of this today.

 Chai Tea: A Book or Series That Makes You Dream of Far Off Places

Wards of Faerie by Terry Brooks

This book has reaffirmed why the fantasy genre is so wonderful. There’s a great little blurb on the cover of my edition from Christopher Paolini saying, “If you haven’t read Terry Brooks, you haven’t read fantasy”, this is very accurate. I’m loving this book so much (I’m currently reading it) and yes I will be purchasing every other Brooks book out there now. *nodding*

 Earl Grey: A Favourite Classic

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley

I have reread only a handful of books in my life, with most of those being the Harry Potter books. But Frankenstein is another of these books. I just love, love, LOVE this book and how haunting it is. I highly recommend going into this one with incredibly low expectations because your mind will be sufficiently blown that way. This book makes me fear science, greatly.
